The Open Door to Provide Daily Radio “Wisdom Breaks”
Boulder, CO - The next voice you hear on the radio could forever change your life. Sounds True – a multi-media publisher with a 20-year reputation as a leading source of world wisdom teachings on audio – has taken to the airwaves to deliver inspiration-packed daily “mini-breaks” to a potential audience of more than one million people a day.
“It is said that even one word of genuine spiritual insight can forever change the course of someone's life,” says Sounds True founder Tami Simon as she introduces each segment. The two-minute episodes, distributed at no charge to radio stations, are carefully selected to initiate personal transformation within the listener.
Sounds True will distribute 260 episodes this year, enough to air one each weekday, drawn from the company's collection of more than 2,000 hours of recorded teachings. Listeners will tune in to provocative wisdom from:
American-born Buddhist nun Pema Chödrön, on befriending ourselves in difficult moments
Respected physician Deepak Chopra, M.D., on how time is only our perception of change
Best-selling author and teacher Eckhart Tolle, on connecting to the vast aliveness of the present moment
Buddhist monk and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh, on stilling the mind to reflect what is real
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker, on the natural self
Jungian analyst and author Marion Woodman, on the special gifts of the elder
and more than 200 other notable teachers and visionaries
For Simon, who began her career as a public radio host, the launch of The Open Door marks a return to that which fueled the creation of her company: a belief in the unrivaled power of the spoken word to touch human hearts and transmit enduring wisdom.
“I've always wanted to reach a broader audience of people who would benefit from hearing life-changing messages from the greatest living spiritual teachers of our time,” she said. “I cannot think of a better way to use the media – especially the radio airwaves, which are so accessible.”
The Open Door is produced by public radio veteran Joe Bevilacqua, and will be distributed for daily broadcast on public, community, satellite, college, short wave, and international radio stations, together with numerous web outlets. Stations are encouraged to broadcast the modules at any time, in any order, and as often as they wish.
